Three-quarter Morning

“Establish prayer at the decline of the sun (from its meridian) until the darkness of the night also (read) the Qur’an of dawn. Indeed the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.” [Al-Isra : 78]

Ayo bangun, sayang..

Dia sang Pemilik,

My three quarter morning.. shubuhku

Shubuh, the moment when rooster crowing early from us

Shubuh, the time we often stay up as nocturnal

Shubuh, the time we on and on randomly talk

Shubuh, the time we’re off and turn ourselves to the Owner of the dawn

Shubuh, the moment I rise and mention your name in my pray

I remember the nights when I always awake until shubuh; just staying in my chamber while opening the window and look upon the dark sky then smile. Sometimes, it is clear bright and full of shining stars. Sometimes, it is pitch black layered in a mild wave of grayish clouds. Then I took a breath and whispered,

“Allah, thank you..”

“And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening.” [Al-inSan : 25]
